New Year's Eve cocktails recipes

Wow party guests with your cocktail menu this New Year's Eve. Whether you like them creamy, long or shaken not stirred, there's a cocktail for every taste.

Mulled Wine Cocktail 

The perfect party drink, as it can be made well ahead, then brought out of the fridge as guests arrive – or serve it hot for a traditional winter warmer.

Ingredients

  • 100g/4oz light muscovado sugar

  • 1star anise 

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 4 cloves 

  • 150ml water

  • 1 lemon

  • 2 clementines

  • 150ml Cointreau

  • 750ml/ 1¼pint bottle light red wine, such as Beaujolais

  • Twist of orange zest and a star anise, to serve

Method

  1. Put 100g light muscovado sugar in a pan with 1 star anise, 1 cinnamon stick, 4 cloves and 150ml water. Bring slowly to the boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar.

  2. Simmer for 2 mins, then pour into a large jug and leave to cool. Add 1 lemon and 2 clementines, both thinly sliced, to the jug along with 150ml Cointreau and a 750ml bottle light red wine, such as a Beaujolais. Stir well, then cover and chill for at least 2 hrs or overnight if you can. stirring to dissolve the sugar.

  3. Serve over chilled ice.

Rumberry Punch 

Big jugs of cocktails are great for a party, let guests help themselves to this cranberry and dark rum drink.

Ingredients 

  • 350ml dark rum 

  • 1l cranberry juice 

  • 1l ginger ale 

Method

  1. Chill the rum, juice and ginger ale until cold. Then pour into a punch bowl or divide into jugs. Serve over cold ice. 

Ginn Flourish Drink Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces blackcurrant soda (or 1 ounce club soda and one ounce blackcurrant syrup)

  • 1 1/2 ounces gin

  • 1/2 ounce Patron Citronge

Method

  1. Chill your ingredients beforehand. Pour the blackcurrant soda first first, then the gin, then the Citronge.

  2. Stir and serve.
